Heat pump radiators for Bournemouth homes

Homes around Bournemouth range from older terraces to newer estates, and each needs a different design. That is why we survey before we quote.

For period homes in Bournemouth and across Dorset, column radiators can keep the character of a room while giving enough heat at low temperatures. Extensions and kitchen-diners around Bournemouth with large glazed areas get their own radiator calculation.

We size each radiator to your room-by-room heat loss so a heat pump can heat your home at a low, efficient flow temperature.

  • Rooms with little wall space, where a fan-assisted radiator fits better
  • Extensions and loft conversions with large areas of glazing
  • Rooms that already feel slow to heat, such as bay-windowed living rooms

What's included

  • Making good around brackets and pipe routes, with any decorating agreed in your quote
  • Supply and fitting of new radiators, valves and brackets
  • A radiator schedule showing which radiators stay, which change and their outputs
  • Room-by-room heat loss figures for every heated room
  • Pipework checks and any agreed pipe upgrades

We plan radiator upgrades in Bournemouth so floorboards are lifted only where pipework genuinely needs changing.

Grants and rules for heat pumps in England

England

In England the Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 towards an air source heat pump (£9,000 if it replaces oil or LPG, from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027), and since 28 April 2026 a valid EPC is no longer needed. The grant is applied for by the MCS-certified installer and shown as a deduction on your Bournemouth quote.

There is no VAT on installing a heat pump anywhere in the UK until 31 March 2027. In England most houses can have an air source heat pump under permitted development, provided the unit meets the MCS noise and siting standards; the old 1 m boundary limit was removed on 29 May 2025. We flag listed buildings, flats and sensitive conservation-area positions at survey.

Heat pump radiators prices in Bournemouth

Short winter days in Bournemouth and what they mean

7 h 57 minDaylight on the shortest day
16 h 30 minDaylight on the longest day
16°Noon sun height in December
50.72°NLatitude of Bournemouth

On the shortest day Bournemouth gets about 7 hours 57 minutes of daylight, and the winter sun reaches only around 16° above the horizon at noon. Winters this far south are milder than in most of the UK, which helps a heat pump run at low flow temperatures for much of the season.

Heat pump radiator upgrades in Bournemouth: questions

Can you service a heat pump in Bournemouth that someone else installed?

Yes. We arrange servicing and repairs for most air source heat pumps in Bournemouth, whoever fitted them. Tell us the make and model when you book.

Where would the outdoor unit go on a Bournemouth house?

Usually at the side or rear, on a level base with space around it for airflow and servicing, away from bedroom windows where possible. The surveyor checks positions at your Bournemouth home.

What size heat pump does a Bournemouth home need?

It depends on the heat loss, not the postcode. As a rough guide, a 3 bedroom semi often needs 6–9 kW, but the room-by-room survey sets the actual size for your Bournemouth home.

Do I need new radiators for a heat pump?

Not necessarily: many homes keep most of their radiators and replace only a few. The heat loss survey checks each room against its existing radiator at the planned flow temperature. Rooms with large windows, high ceilings or extensions are the usual candidates for an upgrade, while bedrooms often need no change. Your radiator schedule lists every decision.

Are fan-assisted radiators noisy?

Fan-assisted radiators make a low, steady fan sound when running at higher output, and many have quieter settings for bedrooms at night. They are useful where wall space is short, such as a kitchen with few clear walls. They need a small electrical supply, which we plan into the installation if you choose them.
