Heat pump servicing in Buckingham: what to expect
Whoever installed your heat pump, aftercare can be arranged in Buckingham. Tell us the make and model and roughly how old it is, and we will set out what the visit involves before you book.
If a heat pump in Buckingham has not been serviced for a while, the first visit includes a full check of settings and pressures. Homes in Buckingham and across Buckinghamshire can book servicing at a time of year that suits them, ideally before winter.
An annual service keeps a heat pump running efficiently, catches small faults early and is often a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Homes where running costs have crept up or rooms feel cooler than before
- Heat pumps a year or more past installation
- Systems where the manufacturer's warranty requires annual servicing
What's included
- Cleaning of the outdoor unit coil, fan area and condensate drain
- A dated service record for your warranty and property files
- Controls and error log check, with settings adjusted where needed
- Unvented cylinder safety checks and legionella cycle check
- Glycol or antifreeze protection test where fitted
Service visits in Buckingham include unvented cylinder safety checks alongside the heat pump itself.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
Homes in Buckingham can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which takes £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump when it replaces fossil-fuel or electric heating. Replacing oil or LPG heating qualifies for £9,000 for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, and air-to-air systems for £2,500. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies for the grant and deducts it from the price.

Heat pump servicing in Buckingham: questions
Do you also cover Brackley?
Yes. We arrange heat pump servicing and repairs in Brackley, which is about 7 miles west of Buckingham, and across Buckinghamshire.
Will the engineer need access indoors as well as outside?
Usually yes. The outdoor unit, the hot water cylinder, the controls and the pipework and valves indoors are all part of the visit, so allow access to each.
How much does a visit cost in Buckingham?
The rate for a service or fault-finding visit is agreed before anyone attends. Any repair is priced in writing before parts are ordered, so you decide before work goes ahead.
How much does a heat pump service cost?
An annual heat pump service has a guide price of £120–£250, including VAT. Where your price sits depends on the type of system, whether it is a split system needing refrigerant checks and whether an unvented cylinder is included. Any parts or repairs found during the service are explained and priced before any work goes ahead.
How often should a heat pump be serviced?
Once a year is the usual recommendation for air source heat pumps, and many manufacturers require it as a warranty condition. An annual visit cleans filters and strainers, checks pressures and controls, and tests the unvented cylinder's safety devices. If you notice a drop in performance, unusual noises or repeated error codes between services, arrange a visit sooner.
