Heat pump radiators for Fulham homes
The question for a Fulham home is rarely whether a heat pump can work, but what needs to change to make it work well: radiator sizes, pipework, controls and where the unit goes.
Radiator fitting in Fulham is scheduled with your heat pump installation so the system is drained only once. Many older houses in Fulham still have their original single-panel radiators, so the survey checks each one against the room it heats.
We size each radiator to your room-by-room heat loss so a heat pump can heat your home at a low, efficient flow temperature.
- Rooms with little wall space, where a fan-assisted radiator fits better
- Extensions and loft conversions with large areas of glazing
- Homeowners who want the lowest practical flow temperature for efficiency
What's included
- Pipework checks and any agreed pipe upgrades
- Draining, refilling, cleaning and inhibitor treatment of the heating system
- A radiator schedule showing which radiators stay, which change and their outputs
- Room-by-room heat loss figures for every heated room
- Making good around brackets and pipe routes, with any decorating agreed in your quote
Extensions and kitchen-diners around Fulham with large glazed areas get their own radiator calculation.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
Homes in Fulham can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which takes £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump when it replaces fossil-fuel or electric heating. Replacing oil or LPG heating qualifies for £9,000 for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, and air-to-air systems for £2,500. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies for the grant and deducts it from the price.
Installing heat pumps is zero-rated for VAT across the UK until 31 March 2027. Since 29 May 2025, permitted development in England allows up to two air source heat pumps on a house, each up to 1.5 m³, with no blanket 1 m boundary rule — the installation must still meet the MCS planning standards, including the noise check. Listed buildings, flats and some conservation-area positions need extra consent, which we check at survey.
Heat pump radiators prices in Fulham
Guide prices for Fulham and the rest of Greater London are shown below, installed and inc VAT. We publish ranges rather than a single figure because design details move the price, and the written quote after survey fixes it.
| Work | Guide price |
|---|---|
| Replacement radiator, sized for a heat pump (each, fitted) | £280–£500 |
| Upgrade of about 10 radiators | £2,250–£5,600 |
| Pipework upgrade (e.g. microbore to larger bore) | £1,700–£3,900 |
Installed, inc VAT. The survey lists which radiators need changing.
How long is the heating season in Fulham?
On the shortest day Fulham gets about 7 hours 50 minutes of daylight, and the winter sun reaches only around 15° above the horizon at noon. Winters this far south are milder than in most of the UK, which helps a heat pump run at low flow temperatures for much of the season.
How installation works in Fulham
- Send your postcode and a few details, or use the guide price tool.
- A surveyor visits your Fulham home, measures every room and checks where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive a heat loss design and a fixed written quote, with any grant shown where it applies.
- Installers fit the unit, cylinder and any radiator changes, typically over 2–4 days on site.
- The system is commissioned, set up with weather compensation and handed over with the paperwork.
Heat pump radiator upgrades in Fulham: questions
Do you cover Putney as well as Fulham?
Yes. We arrange surveys and installation in Putney, which is about a mile south-west of Fulham, and across Greater London.
Do I need new radiators for a heat pump in Fulham?
Often some, not all. Heat pumps run best at lower water temperatures, so rooms with small radiators may need larger ones. The survey of your Fulham home gives a room-by-room list.
How soon can you survey a home in Fulham?
Survey dates depend on how busy installers are in Greater London. We offer the next available dates when you enquire and confirm them in writing.
Can I keep my radiators and just run the heat pump hotter?
You can, but it usually costs more to run. Every extra degree of flow temperature reduces a heat pump's efficiency, so a system designed at 55°C uses noticeably more electricity than one at 45°C for the same heat. A few well-chosen radiator upgrades often let the whole house run cooler, which is the better long-term trade.
Are fan-assisted radiators noisy?
Fan-assisted radiators make a low, steady fan sound when running at higher output, and many have quieter settings for bedrooms at night. They are useful where wall space is short, such as a kitchen with few clear walls. They need a small electrical supply, which we plan into the installation if you choose them.
