What to know about heat pump servicing in Kendal
A heat pump that is serviced and set up properly keeps running efficiently for many years. Many heat pump faults trace back to settings, low pressure or a worn part rather than the heat pump itself, and those can usually be put right.
Heat pumps in Kendal that sit near trees or hedges often need their outdoor coil cleared of leaves at the annual service. If a heat pump in Kendal has not been serviced for a while, the first visit includes a full check of settings and pressures.
An annual service keeps a heat pump running efficiently, catches small faults early and is often a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Systems where the manufacturer's warranty requires annual servicing
- Heat pumps installed by another company that need a new servicing arrangement
- Heat pumps a year or more past installation
What's included
- Controls and error log check, with settings adjusted where needed
- Cleaning of the outdoor unit coil, fan area and condensate drain
- Glycol or antifreeze protection test where fitted
- Refrigerant circuit checks on split systems by an F-gas certified engineer
- Magnetic filter and strainer clean, with system pressure topped up
Service visits in Kendal include unvented cylinder safety checks alongside the heat pump itself.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
Homes in Kendal can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which takes £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump when it replaces fossil-fuel or electric heating. Replacing oil or LPG heating qualifies for £9,000 for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, and air-to-air systems for £2,500. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies for the grant and deducts it from the price.

Heat pump servicing in Kendal: questions
Can you work on a heat pump in Kendal that someone else installed?
Yes. We arrange servicing and repairs for most air source heat pumps in Kendal, whoever fitted them. Tell us the make and model when you get in touch.
How often should a heat pump in Kendal be serviced?
Once a year is the usual recommendation, and many manufacturers make annual servicing a condition of the warranty. Check your warranty terms for the exact requirement.
Do you also cover Windermere?
Yes. We arrange heat pump servicing and repairs in Windermere, which is about 7 miles north-west of Kendal, and across Cumbria.
How much does a heat pump service cost?
An annual heat pump service has a guide price of £120–£250, including VAT. Where your price sits depends on the type of system, whether it is a split system needing refrigerant checks and whether an unvented cylinder is included. Any parts or repairs found during the service are explained and priced before any work goes ahead.
What does a heat pump service not include?
A service covers inspection, cleaning, testing and adjustment. It does not include replacement parts, major repairs, system flushing or radiator changes, which are quoted separately if needed. If the engineer finds a fault, they explain what it is, what it would cost to fix and whether it needs doing now or can wait.
