What to know about heat pump servicing in West Hampstead
A heat pump that is serviced and set up properly keeps running efficiently for many years. Many heat pump faults trace back to settings, low pressure or a worn part rather than the heat pump itself, and those can usually be put right.
Service visits in West Hampstead include unvented cylinder safety checks alongside the heat pump itself. Homes in West Hampstead and across Greater London can book servicing at a time of year that suits them, ideally before winter.
An annual service keeps a heat pump running efficiently, catches small faults early and is often a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Heat pumps installed by another company that need a new servicing arrangement
- Landlords who need dated service records for each property
- Systems where the manufacturer's warranty requires annual servicing
What's included
- A dated service record for your warranty and property files
- Expansion vessel, pressure relief and water quality checks
- Glycol or antifreeze protection test where fitted
- Controls and error log check, with settings adjusted where needed
- Cleaning of the outdoor unit coil, fan area and condensate drain
Heat pumps in West Hampstead that sit near trees or hedges often need their outdoor coil cleared of leaves at the annual service.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
In England the Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 towards an air source heat pump (£9,000 if it replaces oil or LPG, from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027), and since 28 April 2026 a valid EPC is no longer needed. The grant is applied for by the MCS-certified installer and shown as a deduction on your West Hampstead quote.

Heat pump servicing in West Hampstead: questions
How often should a heat pump in West Hampstead be serviced?
Once a year is the usual recommendation, and many manufacturers make annual servicing a condition of the warranty. Check your warranty terms for the exact requirement.
Can you work on a heat pump in West Hampstead that someone else installed?
Yes. We arrange servicing and repairs for most air source heat pumps in West Hampstead, whoever fitted them. Tell us the make and model when you get in touch.
Will the engineer need access indoors as well as outside?
Usually yes. The outdoor unit, the hot water cylinder, the controls and the pipework and valves indoors are all part of the visit, so allow access to each.
How much does a heat pump service cost?
An annual heat pump service has a guide price of £120–£250, including VAT. Where your price sits depends on the type of system, whether it is a split system needing refrigerant checks and whether an unvented cylinder is included. Any parts or repairs found during the service are explained and priced before any work goes ahead.
Can you service a split system?
Yes. Split systems have refrigerant pipes running between the outdoor unit and an indoor unit, and checks on that refrigerant circuit must be done by an F-gas certified engineer. We arrange the service so a suitably certified engineer attends. The water side, controls and cylinder are checked in the same visit, just as on a monobloc system.
