What to know about heat pump servicing in Bala
Aftercare matters as much as installation. For a heat pump in Bala the visit checks the outdoor unit, the water circuit and the controls, and the engineer explains any settings that would help the system run more efficiently.
Homes in Bala and across Gwynedd can book servicing at a time of year that suits them, ideally before winter. Heat pumps in Bala that sit near trees or hedges often need their outdoor coil cleared of leaves at the annual service.
An annual service keeps a heat pump running efficiently, catches small faults early and is often a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Homes where running costs have crept up or rooms feel cooler than before
- Heat pumps installed by another company that need a new servicing arrangement
- Systems where the manufacturer's warranty requires annual servicing
What's included
- Unvented cylinder safety checks and legionella cycle check
- Glycol or antifreeze protection test where fitted
- Controls and error log check, with settings adjusted where needed
- Magnetic filter and strainer clean, with system pressure topped up
- A dated service record for your warranty and property files
Landlords in Bala can arrange servicing for several properties, with a dated record for each.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in Wales
Homes in Bala can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which applies in Wales as well as England: £7,500 towards an air source heat pump, or £9,000 when it replaces oil or LPG heating for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies and deducts the grant.

Heat pump servicing in Bala: questions
What should I check before booking a visit in Bala?
Note any error code on the controller, check the system pressure gauge if you have one, and make sure the outdoor unit is clear of leaves or snow. Photos of the unit and controller help.
Can you work on a heat pump in Bala that someone else installed?
Yes. We arrange servicing and repairs for most air source heat pumps in Bala, whoever fitted them. Tell us the make and model when you get in touch.
Do you also cover Dolgellau?
Yes. We arrange heat pump servicing and repairs in Dolgellau, which is about 17 miles south-west of Bala, and across Gwynedd.
What does a heat pump service not include?
A service covers inspection, cleaning, testing and adjustment. It does not include replacement parts, major repairs, system flushing or radiator changes, which are quoted separately if needed. If the engineer finds a fault, they explain what it is, what it would cost to fix and whether it needs doing now or can wait.
How much does a heat pump service cost?
An annual heat pump service has a guide price of £120–£250, including VAT. Where your price sits depends on the type of system, whether it is a split system needing refrigerant checks and whether an unvented cylinder is included. Any parts or repairs found during the service are explained and priced before any work goes ahead.
