Heat pump radiators in Dewsbury: what to expect
The question for a Dewsbury home is rarely whether a heat pump can work, but what needs to change to make it work well: radiator sizes, pipework, controls and where the unit goes.
We plan radiator upgrades in Dewsbury so floorboards are lifted only where pipework genuinely needs changing. Many older houses in Dewsbury still have their original single-panel radiators, so the survey checks each one against the room it heats.
We size each radiator to your room-by-room heat loss so a heat pump can heat your home at a low, efficient flow temperature.
- Homes switching from a gas, oil or LPG boiler to a heat pump
- Extensions and loft conversions with large areas of glazing
- Rooms that already feel slow to heat, such as bay-windowed living rooms
What's included
- Room-by-room heat loss figures for every heated room
- Making good around brackets and pipe routes, with any decorating agreed in your quote
- Supply and fitting of new radiators, valves and brackets
- Balancing every radiator so each room heats evenly
- Pipework checks and any agreed pipe upgrades
Extensions and kitchen-diners around Dewsbury with large glazed areas get their own radiator calculation.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
In England the Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 towards an air source heat pump (£9,000 if it replaces oil or LPG, from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027), and since 28 April 2026 a valid EPC is no longer needed. The grant is applied for by the MCS-certified installer and shown as a deduction on your Dewsbury quote.
There is no VAT on installing a heat pump anywhere in the UK until 31 March 2027. In England most houses can have an air source heat pump under permitted development, provided the unit meets the MCS noise and siting standards; the old 1 m boundary limit was removed on 29 May 2025. We flag listed buildings, flats and sensitive conservation-area positions at survey.

Heat pump radiator upgrades in Dewsbury: questions
How long does a heat pump survey take in Dewsbury?
A home survey in Dewsbury usually takes one to two hours. The surveyor measures every heated room, checks windows, walls and radiators, and looks at where the outdoor unit and cylinder can go.
Do you cover Ossett as well as Dewsbury?
Yes. We arrange surveys and installation in Ossett, which is about 2 miles east of Dewsbury, and across West Yorkshire.
How soon can you survey a home in Dewsbury?
Survey dates depend on how busy installers are in West Yorkshire. We offer the next available dates when you enquire and confirm them in writing.
Can radiators be changed without draining the whole system?
Radiator changes normally mean draining the heating system, which is why they are usually done as part of the heat pump installation. The system is then refilled, flushed, treated with inhibitor and balanced. Doing the radiators at the same time avoids draining twice and means the new radiators are commissioned with the heat pump.
Will new radiators be much bigger than my old ones?
Sometimes, but not always. Swapping a single-panel radiator for a double or triple-panel model of the same height and width can raise output substantially, adding only depth from the wall. Where that is not enough, a longer or taller radiator, or a second radiator in the room, may be needed. We agree sizes and positions with you before anything is ordered.
