Grants and rules for heat pumps in Wales
Homes in Machynlleth can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which applies in Wales as well as England: £7,500 towards an air source heat pump, or £9,000 when it replaces oil or LPG heating for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies and deducts the grant.
Installing heat pumps is zero-rated for VAT across the UK until 31 March 2027. Wales has its own permitted development rules for air source heat pumps, so we check what applies to your property, including listed building and conservation-area constraints, at the survey.

Do you cover Dolgellau as well as Machynlleth?
Yes. We arrange surveys and installation in Dolgellau, which is about 11 miles north of Machynlleth, and across Powys.
Can you service a heat pump in Machynlleth that someone else installed?
Yes. We arrange servicing and repairs for most air source heat pumps in Machynlleth, whoever fitted them. Tell us the make and model when you book.
What size heat pump does a Machynlleth home need?
It depends on the heat loss, not the postcode. As a rough guide, a 3 bedroom semi often needs 6–9 kW, but the room-by-room survey sets the actual size for your Machynlleth home.
