Heat pump servicing for Ilford homes
Aftercare matters as much as installation. For a heat pump in Ilford the visit checks the outdoor unit, the water circuit and the controls, and the engineer explains any settings that would help the system run more efficiently.
We service heat pumps in Ilford whoever installed them, including monobloc and split systems. Service visits in Ilford include unvented cylinder safety checks alongside the heat pump itself.
An annual service keeps a heat pump running efficiently, catches small faults early and is often a condition of the manufacturer's warranty.
- Landlords who need dated service records for each property
- Homes where running costs have crept up or rooms feel cooler than before
- Systems where the manufacturer's warranty requires annual servicing
What's included
- Magnetic filter and strainer clean, with system pressure topped up
- Glycol or antifreeze protection test where fitted
- Cleaning of the outdoor unit coil, fan area and condensate drain
- Expansion vessel, pressure relief and water quality checks
- Unvented cylinder safety checks and legionella cycle check
If a heat pump in Ilford has not been serviced for a while, the first visit includes a full check of settings and pressures.
Grants and rules for heat pumps in England
Homes in Ilford can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which takes £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump when it replaces fossil-fuel or electric heating. Replacing oil or LPG heating qualifies for £9,000 for installations from 21 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, and air-to-air systems for £2,500. The MCS-certified installer named in your quote applies for the grant and deducts it from the price.

Designing for Ilford's winters
On the shortest day Ilford gets about 7 hours 49 minutes of daylight, and the winter sun reaches only around 15° above the horizon at noon. Winters this far south are milder than in most of the UK, which helps a heat pump run at low flow temperatures for much of the season.

Heat pump servicing in Ilford: questions
How much does a visit cost in Ilford?
The rate for a service or fault-finding visit is agreed before anyone attends. Any repair is priced in writing before parts are ordered, so you decide before work goes ahead.
How often should a heat pump in Ilford be serviced?
Once a year is the usual recommendation, and many manufacturers make annual servicing a condition of the warranty. Check your warranty terms for the exact requirement.
Do you also cover Barking?
Yes. We arrange heat pump servicing and repairs in Barking, which is about 2 miles south of Ilford, and across Greater London.
How often should a heat pump be serviced?
Once a year is the usual recommendation for air source heat pumps, and many manufacturers require it as a warranty condition. An annual visit cleans filters and strainers, checks pressures and controls, and tests the unvented cylinder's safety devices. If you notice a drop in performance, unusual noises or repeated error codes between services, arrange a visit sooner.
Is servicing needed to keep my warranty valid?
Often, yes. Many manufacturer warranties require an annual service with a dated record, and some extended warranties require an approved installer. Manufacturer warranties pass to you, and the length depends on the make and model. Check your warranty documents, and keep every service record safe with your MCS certificate and handover pack.
